We Blew Our Big Chance Says Hawks Boss Bradbury

Lee Bradbury and his players were left kicking themselves as Havant & Waterlooville missed the chance to move into second place in the Vanarama National League South.

The Hawks went down 2-1 at home to Welling United and it’s their form at Westleigh Park that is giving the manager cause for concern.

A win would have moved Havant into second place in the table - and Bradbury has demanded they cut out their costly errors.

The Hampshire club’s away form is up there with the best in the country but on their own pitch they have flattered to deceive.

Defeat to Welling was their fourth loss already at home and Bradbury, whose only victory in front of their home fans came against bottom club Whitehawk, knows that needs to change.

He said: “The bottom line is that we need to stop letting in silly goals. We’re making mistakes and that part is starting to creep into our game.

“The players we daydreaming for their winning goal,” he said. “We switched off and let in the most simple of goals and the worst point possible.”

“We played well going forward in the second half and though it was probably fair to take a point from the game we couldn’t get it.”
