The manager has been unhappy with his side at the International Stadium in September.
Their three excellent away wins have been undermined by home losses to Harrogate, Eastleigh and bottom side Braintree.
But a 2-0 win over Dagenham saw the Heed back to their best in front of their own fans.
“It was a much better home performance,” Watson told the club’s media team.
“We have been working hard on what we have been missing here lately and it came off for us.
“We worked on being brave on the ball and speed of play - we wanted to move it more quickly.
“We did all that well and it could have been four or five.
“The lads now have to take that into all home games and that is what it’s going to be like.”
He added: “It’s a shame we haven’t attacked all game like that here it really is as we should have more points on the board.
“But that should be a catalyst for all our home performances going forward. It was so much better.”
