Watson Bags Bond As York City’s Solid Summer Continues

Steve Watson thinks he may have a midfield which could take some containing next season.

York City signed AFC Fylde’s Andy Bond, 33, on Tuesday.

He is added to the club’s options in the middle of the park after they brought in Hartlepool’s Paddy McLaughlin and Kieran Green from Blyth Spartans.

"We have got a good mix in midfield now," said Watson on the club’s website.

“But Bondy is something a little bit different to the rest.

"He's played a lot of games at higher levels than this. It's took a little while because there was more than us wanted to try and get his signature.

“He's a player who has got a goal in him, who can go beyond, and who is very hungry and, despite his age, he has got a very good engine.

“He's very driven and focused on the same things that we all are - which is, hopefully, trying to get out of this league.

"There is good competition for places now which is exactly what I want.”
