The Red Dragons are still celebrating after Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward completed his move to Leicester City.
Wrexham sold the stopper to the Reds nearly six years ago in a deal worth £100,000.
Of course, the National League club inserted a sell-on in the deal and a cheque will be coming their way soon.
But Ricketts isn’t sure of exactly how much will be coming through the post and when.
“It’s complicated like most these deals are,” said the new Racecourse boss.
“We don’t know how the agreement is structured between the two Premier League clubs - we don’t know if this £12m is up front, over a number of years, if it’s depending on how he does and so on.
“We will have to wait and see but it’s clearly great news.
“These sell on clauses are so important to Non-League and EFL clubs. Hopefully it will really help the club.
“It’s a credit to the youth set up and for everyone who helped him on his way. If this money can help us towards taking the club back to where it wants to be then fantastic.”
Ricketts wasn’t unhappy with his side’s 3-1 defeat to AFC Telford on Saturday.
He said: “I wasn’t pleased with the result but there was a lot to take from it, mostly positive.”
Wrexham start the campaign with an August 4 trip to Dover Athletic.
