The 21-year-old, who signed a new one-year contract with Walsall last month, has previously enjoyed loan spells in non-League football with Romulus, Rushall Olympic, Rainworth Miners Welfare, Southport, Gresley FC and Rugby Town.
“This is a massive opportunity for me to prove what I can do,” said Roberts. “Walsall have been excellent for me over the last couple of years and I want to stay here and keep progressing under the coaching staff because they’ve done so well for me.
“But the next step in my career is game development. If I can get as many games as I can under my belt with Chester, in that environment, then it’ll be a very good season for me.
“They get good crowds and play against some big clubs, the likes of Tranmere, so this will be a great experience for me and I can’t wait to get started”.
