The former York City striker, 36, is playing on next season after being released by Chorley.
He has agreed a deal at Workington - and the former National League North club are confident of a push for promotion.
Walker’s experience and calmness in front of goal always made him a difficult opponent during his many years in the division.
Chorley manager Matt Jansen said last month than the veteran forward will be an asset to whoever he signs for.
He said: “Jason has been fantastic. It is with a heavy heart that we let him go and it was the hardest decision of the lads who have left.
“But we need to look to the future and to do that we have to make tough decisions. To bring people in, people have to go, it is the nature of the game at every level.
“I am sad to see him go but a new striker is now at the top of our priorities.”
