Wales' Trip To The Racecourse Is A Real Winner For Giggs

By Sam Elliott

Wrexham hosted some very special guests this afternoon as they threw open their doors to the Wales national side.

The Dragons’ Racecourse ground was selected for Ryan Giggs’ side to train with around 4,000 locals watching the session and meeting their heroes.

It’s ten years since the historic stadium stage a game, a 3-0 win over Norway in a friendly game back in 2008.

Giggs says he would love to see Wrexham host another match in the future.

The club are hoping to improve the stadium in years ahead with plans in place to get the historic venue a new lease of life.

The legend told the Daily Post: “I have played here a couple of times, I played here pre-season with Manchester United and also with Wales as well.

“I was here a couple of months ago having a look at this surface and it was very good.

“It has been a great turn out, obviously the weather helps, the sun is out, but I am really pleased and as I say it is a big thank you from myself, the players and the staff for the fans and their continued support.

“I think there is a lot of work to be done before we start talking about that (bringing games to Wrexham)

“But we are spoilt for choice at the moment with Swansea and Cardiff and the Millennium Stadium as well.

"But I don’t see why we can’t play games up here once the stadium is up to scratch.”
