The Shots weren’t at their best on Good Friday but left the West Midlands with a point and a clean sheet after a goalless draw.
They had keeper Lewis Ward to thank for making a number of good stops and Waddock was keen to take the positives from the game.
Waddock said: “We got a point on the road against a very committed Solihull side. We didn’t hit the heights that we did last weekend but I’d like to give the credit to Solihull - they were excellent.
“We didn’t play as well as we’d like to but Solihull had done their homework. It’s a difficult place to come so to come away with a clean sheet and a point is pleasing.”
The Shots could move up to third with victory on Easter Monday against Eastleigh and Waddock knows their home form must improve ahead of the play-offs.
The Spitfires’ game on Good Friday was postponed which may hand them the fitness advantage.
“It might work against us a little bit but we’re a fit group and can rotate the team with the personnel we’ve got,” Waddock added.
“We’ll be ready for Monday. We need to pick up more points and be strong at home. If we can get a win on Monday, the draw at Solihull will have been a good point.”
