This result leaves the side just five points off top spot, but it was the 90 minutes that pleased the boss the most, writes Tom Feaheny.
"We came up against a good side, in form so I am very pleased with the performance and result, I got what I wanted," Waddock told the club's website.
"The players put in that performance, we pressed, we took our chances as well, then our keeper has made a world class save.
"The lads had to be on it, they have responded to everything that I have asked for and put it into practice."
Waddock believes their bad run is now gone and that despite having a tricky spell of results, being where they are means they can aim even higher.
"To stay in the play-offs when we haven't been at our best, it shows what we can build on, now lets see where we finish this season."
