"Gateshead looked strong, our players though gave it everything, from this win and on Tuesday night as well, that is what makes it so pleasing to know how much we have put in and to leave with a win makes me very happy."

Waddock was pleased to see Robert's get a goal in his third appearence for the side since joining on loan from Forest Green Rovers.

"I'm delighted for him, he is a good player, we just need to get him up to speed and we know how important he can be, he's not played much football in recent months, now we just need to get him there."

When reflecting on being top of the Vanarama National League table, Waddock said.

"Two wins in a row, top of the table and the way that we have performed as well, makes me proud of this group of lads."
