Waddock Commends Way Shots Got Past Dover Test

Aldershot Town boss Gary Waddock says his side gained a lot of credit for the way they defeated fellow promotion rival Dover Athletic.

A 2-1 win for the Shots means they are now just four points off top spot, writes Tom Feaheny.

"It's a fantastic start to the new year, it is a tough place to come to, it was a game where we had to stick to the task and we did just that," Waddock told the club's website.

"Overall we deserved to win the game, we had a lot of the possession, they had a spell in the second-half, we knew that would happen.

"The players are shattered, they have worked so hard, the reaction was very good to conceding, now we can let them have that relaxation.

"The platform is there for us to push on, we have to take care of our own business, make sure we perform and pick up points."
