They left it late in game that could have seen them in front several times earlier, in the end it was Nicke Kabamba who they had to thank with a goal moments before the 90th minute, writes Tom Feaheny.
"It would have been cruel to have left it at 0-0, we kept going, the supporters kept going, we didn't change our belief and we got it in the end," Waddock told the club's website.
"We created chances, to get that goal in the East bank, it is a good feeling.
"The approach and attitude was correct, I am delighted with it."
Waddock says his third placed side have shown improvements based on the past near two seasons as they look to go again in the play-off places.
"Over the past two years, I feel there has been progression, we are doing alright, last year we got to the play-offs, this season we have been in and around them the whole time.
"We are third and that is not a bad place to be."
