Vidal Becomes Latest To Join Avenue

Talented full-back Javan Vidal has become the latest player to sign for Bradford Park Avenue ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The Manchester City academy graduate moves to the Horsfall Stadium after two years in the National League with Wrexham and Guiseley AFC.

It was current Avenue manager Mark Bower who took him to Nethermoor last summer, and he was very happy to get the deal over the line.

“Javan is a quality signing and brings pace, energy and versatility to our squad along with plenty of ability,” Bower told the club`s official website. “Like Nicky Clee, I signed Javan last summer but circumstances meant that I didn’t get much chance to work with him, so I’m looking forward to getting him in.

“I think he will become a favourite amongst our fans due to his all-action style and fully committed attitude to the game.

“He has been very easy to deal with regarding the move and it was obvious he was keen to join us from our first conversation with him and we’re delighted that he has agreed to come to Bradford Park Avenue.”

Having progressed through the ranks at Manchester City, Vidal signed his first professional contract with the Premier League club shortly after his 18th birthday in May 2007.

Prior to making a first-team appearance for City, Vidal spent time on loan at Grimsby Town, Aberdeen and Derby County, and made two appearances for England’ under-20s.

The pacey right-back finally made his debut for Roberto Mancini’s side in 2010 in a Carling Cup tie against West Bromwich Albion.

Another loan spell at Chesterfield followed before Vidal left City in the summer of 2011 in the pursuit of first-team football.

Short stints with Greek club Panetolikos, Stockport County and Rochdale followed before the right-footer joined National North side Tamworth in 2014.

He scored once in twenty-five appearances for the Lambs, earning himself a move to Wrexham in 2015.

Vidal then made twenty-three appearances in non-League’s top flight, scoring twice before joining Bower at Guiseley last summer.
