Vermiglio Rewarded For Keeping The Faith After Hammering

Chorley manager Jamie Vermiglio considered making wholesale changes after being slaughtered at Southport.

But was rewarded for sticking by his players as the leaders beat tricky Brackley 2-0 last night.

The win came on the back of a day to forget at Haig Avenue - a 5-3 defeat gave hope to the chasing pack.

But Vermiglio refused to panic after that result and his players didn’t let him down to move six points clear at the top of the National League North.

“I’m over the moon,” the manager said to the club’s video service.

“They are a side with some much strength so this was a really good result for us. Brackley are one of the best sides we have played.

“I thought we were great from start to finish. To get the result after Saturday really gives us that extra bit of confidence now.

“We needed it because we were nowhere near at our best against Southport.

“I went home and reflected and by Sunday the entire team for Tuesday had changed! But I decided to stick with what we had been doing and it worked really well.

“The win gives us that little bit of breathing space at the top. It’s a big three points.”
