Vermiglio Pleased Magpies Went 'Toe To Toe' With Barrow

Jamie Vermiglio said his Chorley side matched Barrow after going 'toe to toe' with higher opposition.

The Magpies went in two goals behind at half-time but an inspired comeback saw them win 3-2 and secure a place in the first round.

Despite the half-time score line, boss Vermiglio thought his side were hard done by in the first period.

"We didn't deserve to go in two goals down," he told the club's website. "I think we had the better of the chances overall."

"Barrow are a good side and we gave them a lot of respect but I think we matched them."

"We made the decision to go toe to toe and I thought in all honesty we were unlucky to go in even one goal down at half-time was harsh.

With a comeback win like that, you'd think there would be stories of an inspiring team talk, but for Vermiglio, it was much more simple than that.

"Tactically we didn't need to say that much. We just needed to make sure that when we got chances that we put them away.

"I didn't need to say that much to be honest, we all chipped in with a bit."

Chorley will be ball '51' in Monday's FA Cup First Round draw.
