But he admits his team will have to show more quality than they did at Chester to be champions.
They still lead the way by two points but Stockport County have closed the gap thanks to their win over Darlington and have a game in hand.
The two sides are still to meet at Victory Park and the manager says their goalless draw isn’t the end of the world.
“We didn’t play to our full potential,” he told the club’s video service. ”But we have come away to a side with the best home record in the league after us and we’ve not been beaten.
“There are lots of positives but there’s a sense of frustration because the three points were there for the taking, for both sides really.
“It wasn’t a great performance, but we ground out a draw away from home. The work ethic is still there.
“You can’t question how hard they work. The attitude is next, ever in question - it was just a lack of quality which we were missing.”
“It’s going to be a difficult end to the season. It’s likely that these aren’t the only points we will drop but we need the fans to turn up for our next game against AFC Telford and try to get us over the line.”
