Vanarama's National League North fan preview: King’s Lynn Town

He's crazy about King's Lynn and now Joshua Yates shines a light on the Linnets ahead of the new campaign.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday

What is the thing keeping you excited for the first whistle?
We’re back to the league we belong! This is where we were when we previously went bust so it’s good to be back. Good quality opposition and a decent squad of players.

It’s been a steady rise since reformation in 2010. You maybe won’t be expected to challenge at the top but what are your aspirations this season and beyond?
This season is all about finding our feet. If we play good football as a team, we've got every chance of staying up. I personally feel we should work on getting the basics right, then push in the next couple of seasons.

What bit of business has been the most pleasing to see?
Securing Ian Culverhouse as manager again. When he left the club, we weren’t as strong as we’d have hoped under Simon Clark, who took over. We were bottom four and it wasn’t looking good. Culverhouse came back, and we ended the season second and secured promotion.

What is something you’re pleased to have seen change?
As mentioned in my last answer, this season starts with Culverhouse in charge. Changing manager pre-season last year didn’t work out, so a manager that knows the club and the players is vital.

Who should everyone be wary of this year?
Adam Marriott. He signed last October and won the golden boot last season. Quality player.

If you had to tip anyone to be a sure bet for promotion, who would it be?
I personally think York will definitely be in the promotion mix. I also think Kidderminster could be one to watch out for this season.

Name on ground you can’t wait to get to.
York City’s Bootham Crescent. It’ll be our last time at that stadium before they move to their new ground.

If you had three points nailed on from anyone, who would it be?
Boston! They've been a rival of ours for some time and playing them again twice in one week will be immense. Looking forward to getting six points out of them just after Christmas!

Which player would you like to see make the move to your club?
Andy Bond of York City. He’s a hard working determined midfielder who was great for AFC Fylde. I think he’ll be vital for York City this season.

Finally, the key question - where do you predict your team will finish next season?
I’d take anything about the relegation zone this season. It’ll just be good to stay up then we can work our way up through the leagues.
