Vanarama's National League North fan preview: Hereford

Edgar Street regular Simon Wright puts his cards on the table and tells us all about Hereford.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday

What will the new season bring for Hereford fans?
A new squad, with ten new battle-hardened signings, mainly of leaders and full internationals. With changes on our Board, more transparency and openness.

What was it like to lose a legend like Peter Beadle early last season?
It’s still a partially open wound around the Street. For whatever reason, we weren't ready for Step 2. We learned the hard way that few are willing to tear up a contract to move to a geographic outpost during the season -that's regardless of who is in charge.

Plenty of business done by Marc Richards this summer – which deal stands out the most?
So many to choose from. Longer term, possibly signing young left back Rhys Davies. More than just future potential, Rhys is the only genuine local in our squad. His sad is a former Hereford United man and still cares.

It was a tough outing last season – what will have changed this time around?
A revamped squad with know-how at Step 2, genuine competition, physical strength and experience.

Who will get the Hereford fans talking this season?
Simeon Maye. A low key signing from Solihull but looks really classy and all-action.

Who could be the sides in the mix for a shot a promotion?
Spennymoor, Brackley and Altrincham are my favourites. Suspect Telford, Chester and York will have good seasons.

Are there any grounds you’re looking forward to visiting?
Farsley Celtic. The only completely new ground in our division.

Who are a team you really want to get one over this season?
Brackley. Beat us comfortably three times last season. We play them in August and will test how much we have progressed.

Who is one opposition player you’re envious of?
Glen Taylor from Spennymoor. We're used to regular goals at Edgar Street and he's the best and most consistent scorer.

If you had to, where would you say Hereford will finish come April 2020?
Play-offs.
