Vanarama's National League fan preview - Eastleigh

Eastleigh super fan Mark Blake puts his neck on the line and previews the season ahead.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday.

The new season is nearly upon us - what have Eastleigh fans got to look forward to?
Another season of ups and downs on the rollercoaster that is following your team! If it’s half as much fun as last season it will be another fantastic ride. We have some fresh young blood added to the squad so let’s be patient and watch them blossom.

With success of course comes other clubs taking a keen eye on your stars! So how exactly do you go about replacing favourites like Paul McCallum, Mark Yeates and Josh Hare?
Mark Yeates is the one I believe we will struggle to replace. The number of assists he had was unbelievable. I actually believe in Joe Partington we have a better player than Josh Hare. Paul McCallun is an interesting one - did he get so many goals because of Yeates’ quality delivery or will he bag loads again this season? Only time will tell.

It was oh-so close last season. Can Ben Strevens guide the club to another year to remember in spite of the departures?
Ben has brought in some young and hungry players into the squad. For the first time in a few years we have players who here for all the right reasons. Let’s hope their drive and determination can bring us more games to remember.

What’s been the best bit of business done over the past few months?
Joe Partington coming back is massive, not only because of the quality he brings on the pitch but the togetherness he will bring between the fans and the team. Max Stryjek will easily be one of the best keepers in the league he should be playing at a higher level so to have him back is brilliant.

Who will be your one to watch come August 3?
Sam Smart. I have only seen him briefly but I know Strevs has been very impressed with him in training. Young, quick and very skilful.

Who are the other sides to watch out for and could be in the promotion mix?
Everywhere you look this year teams have made quality signings. I can see it being a very competitive top ten this season. The National League seem to get more difficult every year.

But who will be this surprise package?
Bromley. They have signed well for sure.

What club are you most looking forward to packing your bags for?
Notts County - we love a trip to an ex-Football League club.

And what game would you like to win more than any other?
Aldershot away. We have a really good record there, and they just hate losing to us.

What opposition player would you most like to see in your side - and what makes him so good?
Danny Rowe just seems to score goals for fun season after season.

So finally, the important question - where do you predict your team will finish next season?
In and around mid-table I reckon but a little push towards the play-offs like last season would be fantastic.

Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Motorama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback.
