U`s Squad Now Almost Complete

The final touches to Sutton United`s squad were completed when Paul Doswell announced the signings of Josh Taylor and Jamie Butler.

Goalkeeper Butler (pictured), 25, was with National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town, who he re-joined in September 2016 following a short stint at Braintree Town.

He had originally signed for the Tudors in the summer of 2015 from Concord Rangers.

Previously at Tottenham Hotspur, Bromley and Metropolitan Police, Butler really made an impression at Concord during the early stages of the 2014/15 Conference (National League) South season and was subsequently called up to the England C squad, having attracted the attention of scouts numerous times. However, his withdrawal was forced due to injury.

“Josh Taylor made my mind up within 15 minutes of watching him play against Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday,” Doswell told his club`s official website. “He was highly recommended to us by Mickey Adams and David Hughes at Midas Sports, and having seen him play for Orient and score 2 goals we were surprised he wasn’t offered a deal there.

“Josh is a name that very few people were aware of due to him spending the last four years doing a degree course on a football scholarship, but he’s had a good football education with Crystal Palace. He has signed a two-year contract at the club and I’m fascinated to see him develop because he’s a very different type of player, and at 22 has plenty of time to improve.

“Jamie Butler has also signed a three-month contract, which was vital due to Ross Worner’s knee injury. Ross’ scan was ok but we still expect him to be out for four-to-six weeks due to the swelling. I’ve known Jamie Butler for many years and always admired his goalkeeping style and ability when he’s played against us. He’s currently training with the Chelsea loan group, and hopefully his time with us gives him the opportunity to play League football to which he aspires”.
