Unibet's Vanarama National League North & South Preview

By Sam Elliott

The leaders in both the National League North and South suddenly aren’t sitting as comfortably as they were a few weeks ago.

AFC Fylde and Dartford’s advantage isn’t what it once was - and that’s sure to make for a blistering title race.

The chasing pack are licking their lips at the prospect so as the countdown to Christmas starts so who will be bearing gifts this weekend? Let’s find out more about what Saturday has in store.

Every week, new betting partner Unibet will run the rule over the weekend’s main matches in the division.

Alfreton Town vs Kidderminster Harriers - National League North

Only the teams at the top of the division have been keeping Kidderminster Harriers quiet for months now. Russ Penn’s team are having a purple patch but the manager knows this is another big test of their promotion credentials.

Kiddy have taken ten points from a possible 12, and during that time took then National League leaders Grimsby Town packing in the FA Cup.

But Billy Heath’s Alfreton are made of stern stuff this season and it will take more than a heartbreaking late loss at Gateshead to derail a campaign which promises so much.

Before that, the Reds had won five from seven. They’ve not lost at home since August, either. Just one point but four places separate the sides and in division which is becoming more and more hard to predict, this has the makings of a thriller.

Oxford City vs Dulwich Hamlet - National League South

There were more than a few raised eyebrows on Tuesday night when the evening’s results came in.

Not just that Dulwich Hamlet had beaten on-song St Albans City, but they crept into second place in the National League South by doing so - and were now just a point behind leaders Dartford.

If things go their way this weekend, we could be looking at the first change of leadership since August.

Hamlet have won six from eight, and three of their last three. They have also ruthlessly scored eight goals in the last 270 minutes.

But Oxford City, themselves unbeaten in seven, have designs on promotion too.

They are in fifth - and just four points off the summit - but have won more on their travels than at home this season. David Oldfield will be determined to put that right and keep his team in touch.

It’s sure to be another explosive weekend!
