Some will say it’s way too early for promotion six-pointers – but the fixture list would beg to differ this weekend!

The race for a place in the National League already looks like it could be one of the best yet.

Matchday seven brings another chance for the hopefuls to stake their claim.

AFC Fylde v Kidderminster Harriers – National League North

AFC Fylde are living up to most pre-season predictions so far.

Jim Bentley’s side were always expected to challenge and Saturday’s encounter with Kidderminster Harriers will test their credentials.

The Coasters are back at their Mill Farm home for only the third time this season and remain unbeaten in the league.

Stopping joint top-scorer Nick Haughton will be the main job for the Harriers’ boss Russ Penn.

But his side have some firepower of their own.

Ashley Hemmings is just warming up and he will relish the chance to get one over on his former side.

Will Harriers close the gap, or will AFC Fylde grab the chance to stretch their legs at the top?

Havant & Waterlooville v St Albans City – National League South

With Dartford and Maidstone threatening to pull away at the summit, are we already looking at a ‘best of the rest’ game?

You can bet both sides will be wanting to quash that cliché as quickly as possible.

Havant will be looking to bring some order to their form.

After two defeats and three wins from their opening five games, Paul Doswell will want to put a run together – and what better way to start than firing shots at one of your fellow promotion hopefuls?

Ian Allinson says his side will need to be on their game to get anything from this one.

Their midweek FA Cup exploits might well have put that spring in their step.

Shaun Jeffers has been the Saints’ not so secret weapon this season – the in-form frontman has eight so far.
