Unibet's Vanarama National League Matchday 38 Preview

By Sam Elliott

While seven sides go battling it out in the FA Trophy quarter-finals, the rest remain to focus on the all-important points.

As it happens just one of the sides in the promotion places are busy trying to secure a semi-final place this year - so most of the EFL hunters can’t let their guard down.

There’s a live game coming as well bringing big focus on both ends as Unibet offer us their latest matchday study.

Torquay United vs Wealdstone

Just when they had thought they’d turned a corner, Torquay United have got themselves buried deep in trouble again.

Four defeats in five at the business end of the season will do that to you.

They’ll look at the achievements of Wealdstone and wonder why they can’t be where the real action is as well.

With a game in hand, back-to-back victories have pushed them to within five points of the play-off pack as manager Stuart Maynard’s reputation continues to grow.

Eastleigh vs Oldham Athletic

Two teams riding high in the six-game form guide come together and the message from both camps couldn’t be clearer: keep it up.

Eastleigh may have been edged out at Yeovil Town on Tuesday but they have still taken 19 points from a possible 24.

Lee Bradbury’s team hold the final play-off spot - and know they can put distance between themselves and the chasers on FA Trophy weekend.

Oldham boss David Unsworth deserves credit for hauling his team out of trouble following a torrid start in the job.

They’ve won four of their last six and three points on the south coast surely sees them safe already.

Notts County vs Dorking Wanderers

The first flicker of doubt entered Notts County minds last weekend.

Despite a late Macaulay Langstaff leveller at Bromley, head coach Luke Williams almost appeared to throw in the title towel.

Let the mind games begin? Well if so it worked as Wrexham came unstuck at Maidenhead but their dominant display at Dagenham means the Magpies have four points to make up.

Failure to beat Dorking - whatever happens at the Racecourse where Southend visit before the live game - will see more uncertainty cast.

It’s about staying in touch before picking their moment, and with the top two still to meet you should rule nothing out yet.

Marc White isn’t camera shy and will tell his players to enjoy the BT Sport spotlight.

After beating Barnet, they’ve got some breathing room down the bottom - but they’ll have seen what Dagenham did at Meadow Lane in the live game late last month and take inspiration.

And let’s not forget, they’ve already beaten them once this season!

It’s going to be another intriguing afternoon!
