Unibet's Vanarama National League Matchday 35 Preview

By Sam Elliott

Another National League weekend is almost here and many of us are asking the same big questions.

With two months to go, everyone wants to know if there is any stopping Stockport County - and exactly who has got enough to edge out the other contenders in the red hot race for the play-offs.

There’s no shortage of matches to figure things out with Saturday’s games quickly followed by a full Tuesday night programme - so here’s what we’ve got coming up this weekend.

Stockport County vs Wealdstone

Can anyone stop Stockport County in their tracks? The juggernaut is crushing everything laying down in front of it right now.

Stones are made of tough stuff, but will they be able to stop the league leaders’ wheels from turning on Saturday.

Not many have for the past four months. Since defeat at Torquay on December 11, County have won 13 from 14 in the National League alone.

For the chasers hoping Wealdstone can produce, there is some hope. Stuart Maynard’s men have won their last two, defeating Maidenhead United and Weymouth and they recently pushed Wrexham close.

Boreham Wood vs Grimsby Town

The race to clinch a top seven place is getting intense - and both these clubs seriously fancy their chances.

Managers Luke Garrard and Paul Hurst know currently sitting in a promotion place means precious little when so many clubs want one.

Just five points separates fifth place Boreham Wood and Bromley in tenth - look no further for evidence of just how competitive the promotion chase is.

Wood really need a reaction, a five-point return from their last six matches is not what the club wanted. To make a great season incredible they need to put more wins on the board as soon as possible.

Grimsby have now won four from five and their impressive win at Yeovil Town last time out showed they can do it on the road as well as at Blundell Park.

Bromley vs Wrexham

One of these sides are bang in form right now - and the other really needs to start getting the points on the board again.

Wrexham are looking for a sixth straight National League win after catapulting themselves back into the title reckoning. They just need to keep winning, Phil Parkinson says.

Bromley, who were right up there challenging a few months ago, are finding out just how lethal the division is at this time of the year.

They have slipped to tenth after a two-point return from a possible 15 but Andy Woodman knows how tough his team have had it with a run of demanding fixtures. It’s not about to get any easier.

He can at least point to ten home wins already, but here’s the bad news.

Wrexham have won eight from ten away from the Racecourse and in the reverse fixture goals from Reece Hall-Johnson and Paul Mullin earned them a 2-0 win.

The Dragons will be fired by yet another sold out away end as they head to south east London looking to keep the pressure on.

It’s going to be another electrifying National League weekend!
