Torquay United vs Maidstone United

Surely neither camp will deny the size of this game.

With both embedded in the bottom four, the picture could become clearer come 5pm on Saturday.

Torquay United showed they have the teeth for the fight by getting the job done against FC Halifax last time out - but with a trip to Woking and a visit from Notts County in the next two, they need to keep making moves towards the teams above the drop zone.

Maidstone United have lost all of their last eight games and a massive job could soon turn totally impossible unless they turn a corner - and quickly.

Scunthorpe United vs Bromley

It’s fair to say Scunthorpe United fans have had worse weeks.

The club’s prolonged take-over finally complete and a win at FC Halifax Town in front of the BT Sport camera that keeps the rest within arms’ length changes everything.

But a gap remains and they need to cash in on the feel-good factor by beating Bromley.

The side in sixth showed some courage by scoring late to level against Dagenham in midweek.

They’re good away, winning two of their last three on the road and they probably deserved something at Wrexham. Andy Woodman will have his team well aware this isn’t the same Scunny as earlier this month.

Barnet vs Chesterfield

It remains to be seen how important Ash Palmer’s late winner will be for Chesterfield at home to stubborn Altrincham on Tuesday night.

But with the standard so high at the top of the National League this year, they know it really kept them in the hunt - after all, it’s now eight wins from nine.

It says it all that Paul Cook’s team are on fire, but they’re still now actually the division’s form side!

Their resolve will be tested at Barnet, but they have happy recent memories. A 4-1 win a year ago nearly to the week was inspired by a Kabongo Tshimanga double.

That result left Barnet in 15th and now they’re fifth, so much has changed for Dean Brennan and the Bees inside 12 months.

His team are really strong at home, taking 10 points from a possible 12.

They’ve been defeated only once at the Hive since being thrashed by York City on October 1.

As good as Chesterfield are right now, their fans know their away form needs to be a little better to keep Wrexham and Notts County in their sights.

Their three wins from seven on the road all came against the division’s strugglers and now they have to gun down a side eyeing up promotion.

What a weekend we’ve got in store!
