It’s fair to say 2022 was one of the most talked about years ever with one epic title race concluded, another just beginning and crowds at an all-time high.
Here are three of the top games as Unibet wish all fans a very Happy New Year full of fantastic football!

Bromley vs Southend United
A play-off shoot-out isn’t a bad way to mark the arrival of a new year. Especially when things are tight…. very tight!
Just three points separates sixth place Southend United and FC Halifax Town down in 14th.
Bromley, thanks to their Box Day bonus at Roots Hall, are now just a point behind the Essex club. They jump above them with a home win.
But the clubs’ home form is letting them down, taking just three points from a possible 15 at Hayes Lane. Southend themselves haven’t won in four and must put that right soon.
One to watch: Louis Dennis (Bromley)

Oldham Athletic vs Notts County
One of these clubs is thrilled to see the back of a torrid and tempestuous 2022.
The other, of course, know it’s been their best year for many years - and wish it would never have to end. They’ve scored 112 goals in the past 12 months and are are loving every minute.
Notts County’s four point lead is still intact but even after an early 4-1 Boxing Day win, Chesterfield and Wrexham fans will think this is a chance for some dropped points.
Oldham, the first former Premier League club to play in the National League, are hoping 2023 brings much better things but at least their home form offers some kind of encouragement that they can avoid another relegation.
They’ve won four of their last eight in front of their own fans but Notts are the away kings - earning seven more points than anyone else on the road this term.
One to watch: Ruben Rodriques (Notts County)

Chesterfield vs Scunthorpe United
So long, 2022. Not many teams have endured a worse calendar year than Scunthrope United anywhere in the world.
They ended it by winning just four of their 48 games, five years on from pushing for a place in the Championship. The Iron are rusting, and their fans know it.
Chesterfield have been there, of course.
But they’ve shown there’s always a way back after a torrid time. Battling for the title and an EFL return, it’s been a year of progress, promise and a great day out at Chelsea.
They ended 2022 by winning the first of the festive fixtures between these teams, but would have seen enough on Boxing Day to know they’ve got a job to do on New Year’s Day.
Problem is, Scunny haven’t won away all season.
In fact, they’ve not won at all in their last nine - and even their last one came after beating fellow strugglers Gateshead.
The Spireites have lost just once in that time and at home they’ve won eight of their last ten.
It’s going to be a very interesting few days!
One to watch: Joe Quigley (Chesterfield)
