Then again, very little surprises you when it comes to life at that end of the National League. The bottom’s not exactly dull, either.
There’s big matches everywhere you look this weekend, as well as what could be a thriller of a live BT Sport game at Dagenham who meet foes Southend United. Here’s our take.

Wrexham vs Barnet
If you listen closely enough, you can hear the Wrexham’s strikers licking their lips at the prospect of playing Barnet on Saturday.
It’s not that the Londoners are hopelessly stranded at the bottom and they fancy some easy pickings - it’s more the fact they’ve let in 13 goals in just three games.
The Dragons have hit 18 in their last four home outings and the Bees travel to north Wales in hope rather than expectation.
Wrexham know they will go back to the top if they win and Notts fail to beat Woking.
One to watch: Paul Mullin (Wrexham)

Scunthorpe United vs Aldershot Town
This is fast turning into a battle of two sides in the bottom four that neither can afford to lose.
The new season is yet to spark into life for Scunthorpe United or Aldershot Town.
While they have certainly had some good moments in the past few weeks, the Shots have already lost eight with Scunny winning just once since the opening day of the season.
But the Iron are actually on their best run for a very long time, undefeated in five and having shown their fans the green shoots of recovery are slowly coming through.
Interim manager Tony Daws has done a good job - and if he wants the role full-time, a win here could just swing things in his favour!
One to watch: Joe Nuttall (Scunthorpe United)

Woking vs Notts County
As the cold nights start to close in, there’s plenty of sunshine in Nottingham right now.
Luke Williams’ honeymoon period at Notts County has so far lasted well into October - and he’s not ready to wrap up warm against the elements just yet!
His team went top of the National League for the first time ever on Tuesday night.
That guy otherwise known as ‘guess who’ got the winner as they beat Wrexham to leapfrog them - and now it’s about staying there for as long as possible.
Problem is, Woking are pretty decent this year - and very good at home.
Taking 12 points from a possible 15 in front of their fans, only the Dragons have made anything except a wasted trip to the Laithwaite’s this term.
Darren Sarll’s team have won four from seven and Macaulay Langstaff look away - they’ve not let in more than a goal in any game since their ten men lost to Wrexham back in August.
This one really could go either way on Saturday. Well, it is the National League!
What a weekend we’ve got ahead!
One to watch: Kyran Lofthouse (Woking)
