So here we go - it's those pesky matches that can wreck so many summers, or totally make the months ahead for everyone associated with a club.

The play-offs are here and so are the nerves, tension, torment - and of course for one club, ecstasy - that always come with them.

Forget all you know, things just never go to plan at this time of year as Unibet explain as they look at the Eliminators.

National League South

It all starts on Tuesday and we’re about to see the importance of form going into the play-offs as Chelmsford City host St Albans with the Clarets coming into it on the back of a home defeat to Taunton Town.

The Saints, however, have had to fight to secure their spot - winning three of the final four. They also have Shaun Jeffers remember, and he has 27 goals to his name. He got all three when the teams last met in December!

On Wednesday it’s part two, and perhaps the surprise packages - one has been in the National League in recent years, and the other want to create history.

Only champions Ebbsfleet have scored more than 92-goal Worthing and they top the form guide with six wins from seven but that means nothing in the play-offs. Braintree Town want revenge after defeat on the south coast two weeks ago.

National League North

Maybe don’t expect the National League North play-offs to be a festival of fantastic football - the race to get into them took it out of everyone!

In the end one point separated fourth place Brackley and ninth place Spennymoor after an insane ending, the mad rush was exhausting to watch let alone play in.

Goal difference hands Alfreton Town home advantage over Kidderminster Harriers and it may just prove critical.

But Russ Penn’s team travel well and have won 12 times on the road but this one could be tight and both league games between them have ended level.

Harriers have won their last six but we’ve seen things change in the play-offs before!

On an epic final day, perhaps Gloucester City were the big story - down and out, they scored three goals in a breathless last 16 minutes to steal Chorley’s place. It was box office drama.

In Steve King they have a manager who knows how to guide teams into play-off finals.

But Brackley Town have only lost seven home matches in the past three seasons and remain a force at St James Park.

However, the Saints have only won one of their last 12 matches and the Tigers will fancy their chances.
