Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

One title race appears all over bar the shouting - but the other is very much alive and kicking.

Ebbsfleet United moved an incredible 17 points clear in the National League South after walloping Worthing 7-2 in midweek.

Chester have just upped the heat on AFC Fylde and King’s Lynn in the North as Unibet assess the weekend ahead.

Leamington vs Chester - National League North

Those Chester fans saying the appointment of Calum McIntyre last summer was the cheap option not so much eating their words, but ramming them down their throats!

The 28-year-old academy manager’s promotion now seems a master-stroke with his team now firmly embedded in the title race.

They’re now three points off top spot after midweek success against Kidderminster and they’ve won six of their last seven - but Leamington have gone back to loving National League North life, too.

The Brakes responded to slipping into the bottom four with seven points from nine and back-to-back wins over Curzon Ashton and Brackley sent out a clear message.

Dulwich Hamlet vs Havant & Waterlooville - National League South

This isn’t the way either set of fans saw the season going, but there’s still time for achievement.

Dulwich Hamlet, who had just one boss in 13 years, are now on third third in little over six months.

Hakan Hayrettin knows what he has to do - keep the club up, by whatever means possible.

He’s already won in front of their brilliant fans against St Albans but Hamlet have lost six of their last seven matches.

The last was painful, thrashed 5-1 at Chelmsford City on Monday - it came weeks after they were hit for six at Worthing.

Even sizeable home support can’t swing things in their favour, losing all five at Champion Hill before the Saints came unstuck last Saturday.

With very tricky trips to Bath City, Ebbsfleet and Dartford fast approaching, they really need to add to Havant & Waterlooville’s issues.

From title contenders to facing a real battle to get into the top seven, the Hawks have lost their bite.

A single point at home to Cheshunt to show for their last five games, Paul Doswell’s team must find some form if they still want to go up - and fast.
