Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

There’s another big weekend coming - so what clues will we uncover in the promotion races on Saturday?

There’s little room for error at the top of the National League North and South divisions, and the same can be said for goings on down at the bottom.

Here’s Unibet’s pick of the games coming up as things start to get serious.

Braintree Town vs Dartford - National League South

What have Braintree Town, Wrexham and Notts County all got in common?

Most people will say not much, but they are the only teams yet to taste defeat at home this season in all three National League divisions.

Dartford know that if they want to win automatic promotion and join those big boys again next year, they really need to end the Iron’s incredible Cressing Road run.

Ebbsfleet’s advantage over them is nine points and with the leaders at home to relegation haunted Hampton & RB, they know only three points across the border will do.

Leamington vs Darlington - National League North

Two sides with very different ambitions know the importance of this encounter.

Leamington’s six-year stay in the National League North is under threat after they slid into the bottom four.

A fourth defeat in a row against Buxton in midweek saw the Brakes in hot water at the wrong end. They haven’t won in front of their fans since October.

They face a Darlington side sizzling away from home in recent months.

Well, that was until last weekend when they came unstuck at Boston United - themselves in the bottom four before a potentially season-changing win.

The Quakers, though, have won six of their last seven games on their travels.

But if they want to win the league, they know they need to put last weekend to one side and quickly.

They sit fourth, five points off leaders AFC Fylde who this Saturday go to Peterborough Sports.

Nobody has scored more goals than Darlo’s 57, but none of the other title chasers have conceded as many as Alun Armstrong’s side have.

It’s going to be another intriguing weekend!
