Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

You can slip a cigarette paper between the teams at the top of the National League North and South right now.

It’s still so hard to call in both divisions with what seems like a new side sitting in top spot after every matchday.

There’s Friday night games to throw into the mix this weekend and betting partner Unibet have had their regular look at what’s ahead of us.

Chelmsford City vs Dartford - National League South

Alan Dowson is crystal clear - he wants to see what his team are made of in arguably their toughest fixture yet.

The Dartford boss has challenged his table toppers to stay put by winning at Melbourne but knows full well that Ebbsfleet United and Havant & Waterlooville are likely to take advantage if they don’t!

The Kent club’s home form may have taken them to the summit but their away form has picked up as well. It’s only one defeat from six on the road.

Chelmsford are back in the groove thanks to their win at Worthing and sitting in fourth they know it’s all about keeping in touch to keep their great season in gear.

King’s Lynn Town vs Hereford - National League North

Now the FA Cup journey is over, King’s Lynn are back on the title trail.

The long-term leaders saw their rivals give them plenty to think about in the past few weeks as they were grabbing the headlines and featuring live on TV.

Brackley, who take on Spennymoor on Saturday, and Darlington - at home to Kettering on Friday - have jumped ahead. But now it’s full focus on the league.

With three games in hand, they’ve got work to do - but they’re only three points behind and want a cup kick-back with a big crowd against Hereford.

The Bulls have themselves enjoyed the spotlight this season.

Though they’ve suffered a slight hangover since playing Portsmouth, three defeats in four National League games has seen them fall off the play-off place.

King’s Lynn are one of just two teams yet to taste defeat in the National League North at home.

Hereford will be tricky for Tommy Widdrington and his players - they’ve won three from five on their travels, winning at AFC Telford, Curzon Ashton and Boston United since October.

With some Friday night football also thrown in, it’s sure to be another intriguing weekend of action.
