The FA Cup proved to be a welcome distraction for many last weekend. It’s back to the promotion grind for some, while others look for the win which could spur their seasons into life.
It’s never too late to start a run and, as last season showed, it’s not the team who blast off from the beginning who are always the ones smiling. Here’s our pick of Saturday’s matches.

Banbury Town vs Scarborough Athletic - National League North
Show of hands - who saw these two promoted clubs both sitting in the top three?
It should probably be no surprise Banbury have kept on winning. After all, they did it 32 times in the Southern League alone last year.
Defeat to Peterborough Sports last time hasn’t knocked them off their stride and with a record of ten points from four home games, they will certainly fancy this on Saturday afternoon.
But so too will the fearless Seadogs. They sit second and are looking for not only their fifth win in a row in all competitions, they’ve also got eyes for first place, too.

Welling United vs Havant & Waterlooville - National League South
If you head down to Park View Road this weekend, you are likely to see the place packed out with smiling faces.
So far, so very good for Welling United and for Havant & Waterlooville.
The Wings are, well, flying. From a final day escape last season to fifth this time, they are a club reborn under the tutelage of Warren Feeney.
They are looking for their sixth league win out of seven as the former Northern Ireland international stamps his authority on the club.
Paul Doswell’s Hawks have also taken flight. They are second and just waiting for a slip up from relentless leaders Ebbsfleet.
Incredibly, they are looking for their eighth win in a row in all competitions on Saturday.
Havant have won every single game bar their draw at Braintree Town on August 13 and don’t plan on surrendering that epic run for anyone.
What a weekend we’ve got in store!
