Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

Just two clubs from all three National League divisions remain unbeaten - and they are the ones sitting pretty at the top of the North and South.

King’s Lynn Town and Ebbsfleet United are both off to a dream start, but they aren’t the only ones in the two leagues with reason to feel optimistic.

Unibet look at some of the challengers in this weekend preview piece - as well as two clubs who have also been in the news.

Blyth Spartans vs Gloucester City - National League North

Not many clubs make a managerial change after just one game, so Blyth Spartans knew they needed to get their next appointment on the money.

They had 70 applications to replace Terry Mitchell and eventually settled on former player Graham Fenton.

A point at Chorley was a solid start in midweek but they now face a team gunning for promotion and possibly the title.

Gloucester City - after a poor season last year - have their eyes on the top prize again as wins over Boston United and Peterborough Sports inside the last seven days underlines.

Worthing vs Chippenham Town - National League South

Chippenham return to action after the most difficult of weeks.

The club have been coping after defender Pablo Martinez collapsed on the pitch during their match against Chelmsford City on 13 August.

They say he should make a full recovery after prompt medical assistance - but it was a few days that rocked everyone at the Wiltshire club.

Now they return to the field hoping for three points in the honour of the player who continues his recovery.

They won’t have it easy against Worthing, who had stylishly settled into their new surroundings.

Sitting in second spot, their season started with a 1-1 draw with Dover Athletic - a frustration considering Jake Robinson scored the first goal this season just minutes in.

Then what followed gave their fans great belief.

Superb wins at Welling United and Weymouth shows they aren’t going to be out of place. Eight goals already hints that they’re going to be a team to watch this season.

It should be another eye-catching afternoon of matches!
