The agreement provides students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience across the league’s 68 clubs and its three divisions.
As part of the ground breaking new deal, UCFB became lead partner of The National League Under-19 Alliance, further strengthening the institution’s commitment and ties to the English football pyramid. This aspect of the partnership will provide a clear pathway for the under-19 Alliance’s school and college student-athletes to progress onto higher education at UCFB.
Work experience opportunities for UCFB at National League clubs will include the chance to film and produce footage for North and South matches televised on BT Sport in the weekly National League Highlights Show.
The partnership will also allow students the opportunity to gain experience in their fields of study including football marketing, psychology, coaching and event management.
UCFB chairman Brendan Flood said: “This new partnership will give UCFB students unparalleled access to clubs around the country in a wide range of departments which will supplement their studies perfectly, as well as giving them the best possible chance of a successful career once they graduate. Our lead partner role with the National League Under-19 Alliance will be extremely valuable for students in that league also, providing these ambitious young players an exciting route to study a university degree in the global sports industry.”
The chairman of the National League, Dr Brian Barwick, added: “This agreement represents a great opportunity for all 68 of our clubs and the students of UCFB. Not only will students be able to learn and adapt vital skills crucial to the football industry and their future careers, but our clubs will benefit from added behind the scenes assistance and guidance from a number of skilled and willing individuals”.
