It is Reid’s third spell with the Gulls and he played an integral role in the `great escape` last season, operating in a number of positions with great effect.
Manager Kevin Nicholson is anticipating a breakthrough season for Reid (pictured) and a chance to show he is capable of making the step up to become a regular Football League player.
“It’s great to have Reidy back,” Nicholson told the club`s official website. “He did well for us in difficult circumstances last season and I expect him to kick-on this time around.
“He’s a fantastic athlete, a good character who can play in several positions, which is an important asset for our squad.
“Reidy is highly motivated to progress, as this is his last chance to show Exeter boss Paul Tisdale that he should be playing League football and show me he is worthy of a permanent deal should that opportunity arise. I’m expecting a very positive season for Reidy.”
Reid, who scored twice on his full debut for Exeter against AFC Wimbledon in the 2012/13 season, was on loan at Plainmoor for the majority of last season scoring 3 goals in twenty-eight appearances.
Also returning to Plainmoor is goalkeeper Neal Osborn.
Osborn has agreed to move to south Devon following his release from Premier League side Southampton.
The 18-year-old is a local lad and was a real shining light in the former Torquay youth system under current general manager Geoff Harrop, leading to Southampton securing his signature as a 15-year-old.
He now returns to Plainmoor and will work alongside the experience of Ryan Clarke to give Nicholson security in his goalkeeping options.
“Neal Osborn will be familiar to some United fans after his time in our youth system a few years ago,” said Nicholson. “He’s a young, bright, talented goalkeeper, who now has the chance to flourish on our first-team environment.
“Neal will be pushing Ryan Clarke as hard as he can and it’s great to have a local boy in the squad. He is a confident goalkeeper who believes he can become the number one at Torquay United.
“It is great to hear and I’m sure he will benefit hugely from working with a goalkeeper with the experience of Ryan Clarke”.
