The 4-3 defeat had so many twists and turns but, ultimately, it ended in defeat.
It was Trinity’s second loss in two games, but their early season struggle for points doesn’t tell the story according to Frecklington.
“It’s hard to put into words,” he said after the defeat to Darlington. “There’s a way to get beat in football and that was the way to get beat. I couldn’t have been any prouder of those boys after that second half performance.
“To be 3-1 down in front of 2,000 and give it everything. They worked their socks off to get back on level terms. They took on board what we asked and on another day we could have taken three points, but we’ve come away with nothing to show.
“The first half we couldn’t get to grips with the way they played. We didn’t want to get tight.
“But once we got a foothold in the game, we looked a real threat. We just couldn’t protect the lead like our lives depended on it,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.
“We found ourselves 2-1 down at half-time but we looked a different outfit. We were brave.
“But we do need to find a way to stop making the errors we were making sooner rather than later.”
