Tuesday’s Vanarama National League South Round-Up

By Steve Whitney

There is now a four-way tie at the top of the table following Dartford`s 2-1 win at Twerton Park against mid-table Bath City.

Dartford almost scored one of the quickest and most remarkable goals of the season when they hit the woodwork straight from the kick-off!

But in the end they took 27 minutes to breakthrough when Alfie Pavey headed past Luke Southwood.

Bath equalised in first half injury-time with an effort from 20 yards by Tom Smith.

However, it looked like it had turned sour for Darts with 17 minutes left when a late challenge on Dan Ball earned Andy Pugh a straight red card.

The ten-men won it though 6 minutes later when a poor back pass by Ryan Case was pounced up by Pavey, who rounded Southwood to tap into an empty net.

Tuesday`s other game saw another of the teams on 28 points, St Albans City, beaten at the Beveree by Hampton & Richmond Borough, who moved up to twelfth spot.

Charlie Wassmer’s 28th minute header proved enough as the Beavers secured an impressive victory over the high-flying Saints, who ended the match with ten-men as centre-back Harold Joseph was sent-off for a second booking in stoppage time.
