Tuesday Night Preview: Vanarama National League

By David Richardson

The games are coming thick and fast, and match day four in the Vanarama National League is right around the corner!

Aldershot Town are the only side to have won their three games and thus sit top the National League. The Shots smashed Guiseley 6-0 on Saturday and now they head to Maidstone United, who have picked up just one point so far.

Neil Smith's Bromley remained unbeaten on the weekend, picking up a point at Macclesfield Town to take their tally to five. They host a Leyton Orient side that have secured back-to-back wins.

Dagenham and Redbridge are another unbeaten team, although after two wins, the Daggers could only draw at Eastleigh. John Still's side host Daryl McMahon's Ebbsfleet United, who have acquitted themselves well in the National League, taking five points so far.

Newcomers Hartlepool United and AFC Fylde are yet to record a first National League win although the latter are unbeaten with three draws. Maidenhead United, who beat Pools on BT Sport last weekend, travel to Fylde. Chester have drawn both of their games and visit Hartlepool.

Tranmere Rovers go to Guiseley, with both sides hoping to bounce back from disappointing Saturday defeats. Sutton United were the shock winners at Rovers, and they host Macclesfield Town.

Another team wanting to put the weekend quickly behind them is Torquay United. The Gulls play host to Boreham Wood, who put four past Solihull Moors in a 4-1 win.

Moors have lost both of their games and take on a Barrow side managed by Paul Cox, that won their first game on Saturday. The Bluebirds ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over Woking.

Following fruitless trips to Tranmere and Barrow, the Cards return to the Laithwaite Community Stadium for the visit of Eastleigh. Richard Hill's Spitfires are one of eight unbeaten sides in the league.

Gateshead recorded back-to-back wins on the weekend, seeing off Torquay 3-0. They travel to Wrexham, who slipped to defeat at Dover Athletic. The Whites head to FC Halifax Town, a team still looking for their first National League goal.
