Truro Go The Extra Mile In FA Trophy

Truro City are on the hunt for more cup success after reaching the FA Trophy first round.

The National League South side made club history by reaching the FA Cup first round earlier this month and now they're after more glory.

The White Tigers won 3-1 at Lewes to advance in what was their third away trip in seven days.

A victory at Hungerford was followed by a draw at Braintree before this cup win.

“We’ve covered a lot of miles this week,” said boss Lee Hodges. “In fact, we’ve done the equivalent of going from Land’s End to John o’ Groats and back with an extra four miles on top for good measure!

“The players have given me absolutely everything; we made seven changes today but I was very pleased with the performance.

“We weren’t at it for the opening 20 minutes or so, but once we started to get into our stride, we grabbed two goals in quick succession and took things from there.

“The lads ran their socks off and we scored three good goals against a good side who are top of their League with only one defeat all season.

“It was a professional job. It’s great to be involved in this competition and with a Wembley Final at the end of it, we want to do well and get as far as we can.

“We’re in the hat for the first round now when The National League teams come into it, so let’s see where it takes us."
