Those dedicated people have come to the fore during the pandemic and Hampton & Richmond Borough have had so much support that two of their behind-the-scenes stars have been honoured.
David Rees and Jason Stewart have come to the rescue this season with fans desperate to keep watching their team from home.
The usual voluntary safety officers have stepped up to organise an impressive streaming service and supporters were so grateful to them.
Their technical expertise has been invaluable to the Beavers - and they have even chipped in with CCTV installation at their Beveree home.
David has been helping for an incredible 25 years as has even stepped up as the clubhouse DJ - they are both men of many skills!
There is reward too for one of the National League North’s most helpful unsung heroes, it goes to someone for whom mileage just doesn’t matter.
Darlington diehard Martin Deans doesn’t do things by halves.
We’ve all heard of dedicated volunteers but the club’s matchday steward travels from London to make sure a normal game day passes off without any problems.
Martin, 63, has been a fan for nearly 50 years and a tunnel guard for 40 of them, making the 500 mile round trip with a huge smile on his face.
Such is his love for the Quakers, he even commutes to away games - and makes the trip from the capital to stand on the terraces cheering the team on.
In a regular season he clocks up thousands of miles every month and like everyone else can’t wait for normality to return.
Congratulations to our three fantastic winners!
