Beatson, who was with Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, was one of only three players to be awarded a professional contract at Hillsborough last season, having impressed whilst playing for the under-18s.
Of his move, Beatson said: "I am delighted to be joining the club, I've enjoyed pre-season training so far and the chance to get involved in the friendlies as well, I’m really looking forward to the season ahead."
Beatson played in the past two home friendlies against Handsworth Parramore and Grimsby Town and stood up well to the threat in both games and manager Dominic Roma was keen to secure the young centre-back`s signature following competition both from league rivals and the National League. "Brad has done well in pre-season and has earned his place in the squad for the forthcoming season," Roma said.
Beatson will add competition for places to the backline, which includes old favourites Jake Picton, Josh Lacey, Matty Wilson and Adam Quinn and fellow summer recruit from the other side of the Steel City divide, Ioan Evans.
The recruitment of the former Owl, gives Roma the opportunity to shuffle the pack, as he did in the friendly game against Grimsby, which saw Wilson employed in the central midfield holding role. With the first game of the league season less than ten days away, with the visit of Bradford Park Avenue to the Martin & Co Arena, Roma’s summer recruitment drive is almost finished.
