Tributes Paid To Former Clarets and Dulwich Star

By Sam Elliott

Tributes have been paid to tragic former Chelmsford City and Dulwich Hamlet player Shayne Mangodza.

He had been missing since February 9 following an evening with friends in Ilford.

The family’s worst fears were confirmed on Tuesday following an appeal from the Met Police.

The 35-year-old was a fans’ favourite at his time at both clubs and was famous for his trademark bandana and no-nonsense approach.

The defender also played in the Conference South for Redbridge, as well as turning out for Grays Athletic.

Dulwich Hamlet said: “The club are deeply saddened to hear that ex player Shayne Mangodza has passed away.

“We send our love and sympathy to all Shayne’s friends and family during this difficult time.”

Chelmsford City added: “The club is deeply saddened to hear about the passing of former defender, Shayne Mangodza. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
