Tranmere's Wing Wizard Tollitt Returns To Training

By David Richardson

Tranmere Rovers' impressive midfielder Ben Tolllitt has returned to training after undergoing knee surgery earlier this year - and he says he's feeling even stronger!

The 22-year-old damaged knee ligaments in February and has since been going through a strict rehabilitation programme to get fit again.

Tollitt joined Tranmere initially on loan from Portsmouth in September last year before making the move permanent in December, signing a contract to keep him at the club until 2019.

He scored seven times in 18 appearances last season, four of those coming in the three games before his season-ending injury.

But now the tricky winger is back in training sooner than expected, and has given an update on his progress.

"I feel good, I have had two sessions, one tough and one a bit lighter, and towards the end of the week we'll repeat that," he told the club's website. "At first the injury gets you down but I spoke to the physio and he said that there's only one way to look at it, that it's going to help me out.

"I've never had the chance to work on myself physically and make myself into a better athlete. The next steps are to train three or four days this week and then four or five next week, and then the week after go to see the surgeon and he should give me the green light to play.

"The support from the fans has definitely helped, seeing people constantly ask when I'm back. Any message of support shows that they think highly of me or they like me and what I do. It shows that I'm wanted, in a way, it's nice. They've been class, so thank you."
