Tranmere's Cook Kops Golden Boot Award

By Sam Elliott

Tranmere Rovers ultimately couldn’t quite peg back Macclesfield, but their striker Andy Cook completed a rescue mission of his own.

The powerful frontman was trailing Danny Rowe in the scoring charts for most of the season, but an incredible final few months saw him chip away and deny the AFC Fylde sharp shooter a National League Golden Boot to add to his North one from last year.

With play-off strikes not counting in the end of season tally of course, Cook, 27, ends two goals ahead - and it had a lot to do with one game in particular last month.

Cook scored four times against Gateshead and that night eventually swung things in his favour.

He was presented with his well-earned trophy before the Vanarama National League play-off semi-final win over Ebbsfleet United last Saturday.

Killer Cook now wants to sign off in style with a Wembley win on Saturday in the Promotion Final, and knowing him another goal!
