There’s a new leader in the race to clinch the Vanarama National League North Golden Boot.

What makes Jason Gilchrist’s 23 goals even more impressive is that he’s scored them with two different clubs - and neither have been promotion contenders.

Southport’s signing from FC United has been in such great scoring form - a goal every 85 minutes in fact this season - that he has earned an England C call up for the March match against Wales.

But it’s not just the strikers involved. In the scoring standings are two midfielders - Harrogate’s Joe Leesley and Brackley Town’s FA Trophy semi-finalist James Armson.

There was movement in midweek as Jack Redshaw’s most dramatic of winners for Salford City against Tamworth nudged him up to 16 for the season.

But who’s going to take the Golden Boot? Let’s check in on the goals tally chart with under two months left to go.
