Too Much Talking Is Not So Good For Boston Boss Craig

When sitting down to consider your runners and riders for the National League North this week, it may be best to skip past Boston United.

Not because they have had a summer to forget in the transfer market.

Or because a poor pre-season should cast doubt in your mind.

It’s more to do with manager Craig Elliott getting fed up of tongues wagging with positivity about the Pilgrims’ players!

“Talk is cheap,” he told Lincolnshire Live. “I am sick of hearing that on paper we have got a good squad.

“It’s all about what we do from now on.

“It has been an inconsistent pre-season but a good one in finding out about my players.”

He has pulled off some good signings like experienced Nathan Arnold, defender John McCombe and centre-forwards Adam Marriott and Jonny Margetts. Those deals have caught many people’s eye.

Boston begin the season at home to Guiseley before away matches with Leamington and FC United.

They go in to the season opener on a high. Saturday’s 2-1 won over National League FC Halifax put to bed a number of iffy results.

“We talked about a reaction and we talked about being better and as long as you are getting that, it’s all you can ask for,” he told the website.

“It certainly made me feel a lot better!”
