Tonight's National League North And South Big Preview

By Sam Elliott

There’s a full programme coming in the National League North and South tonight as we say goodbye to February with plenty of points up for grabs.

We’re nearing the final two months of the season so who will head into March with a spring in their step?

Chester have held top spot in the National League North every day this month and don’t want to relinquish the leadership now.

For Scunthorpe United to take over, the table toppers will need to lose at Oxford City and the Iron will have to win at home to Darlington.

Brackley Town can’t climb over them both tonight, but they will increase the pressure if they win at home to Rushall Olympic while Hereford will really get everyone thinking if they can earn eighth win in nine league matches.

They Bulls are at home to Buxton, while it’s now or never if Kidderminster Harriers or King's Lynn Town want to join the title race. They meet having both sat top of the table themselves towards the end of 2024, but they’ve got a lot of ground to make up.

At the other end there’s home advantage for a number of the strugglers. Warrington Town need to end their winless win against Scarborough Athletic, Needham Market host Leamington and Radcliffe know the importance of their game with Peterborough Sports.

With thrilling games and an electric title race, the National League South season has certainly been one for the neutral but what will tonight bring?

Leaders Dorking Wanderers have the night off, so those trying to knock them off top spot know they need to take full advantage.

Eastbourne Borough chucked away two points at home to Hemel Hempstead, and they’ve got the chance to make up for that at home to Maidstone United. Can George Alexander add to his six goals in the past two matches?

Worthing are third, level on points with the second-place Sports and take on Farnborough who arrive on a high after their fightback away to the league leaders at the weekend.

Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter says there’s no excuses now players are returning from an injury and he’s made it clear he expects a title challenge in the final two months. His team are at home to Chelmsford City, who have taken ten points from their last four matches.

It’s crunch time for Torquay United and if they want to stay in the title race they need to start winning with regularity. It’s a tough ask to recover from their weekend set-back at Chelmsford but winning at Weston-super-Mare, who will boot them out of the top seven with victory.

The big games at the bottom keep coming. St Albans City and Aveley both can’t afford a defeat while Enfield Town go to Hornchurch, Welling United face Tonbridge Angels and Weymouth know only wins will do. They travel to Truro City.
