Worthing and Truro City fans will remember signing off 2023 in style and both pick up the awards after a quite brilliant four weeks.
The Manager of the Month goes to Paul Wotton, the White Tigers roared in December and clawed their way out of trouble down the bottom.
They really started to settle into the Vanarama National League South thanks to some swashbuckling displays. Nobody notched more points than Truro last month, ending November a point from safety and ended the year eight points clear of the drop-zone.
Some huge results against teams around them helped their charge up the table. Truro beat St Albans before defeat to Maidstone United. Getting one over Weston-super-Mare, they then put Havant & Waterlooville and Torquay United to the sword.
In a huge month off the pitch for the club, Wootton has helped add some smiles on it as well.
When your striker is already at 20 goals just past the half-way stage, you know you’re in with a chance of promotion.
Seven ahead of the nearest top scoring contenders, Worthing striker Ollie Pearce has been head and shoulders above most defences this season.
Last month, he took his game to a whole new level. He scored no fewer than eight times, including two hat-tricks. Just a goalscorer? Well four assists dispelled any speculation he’s purely a right man, right place type of centre-forward.
Pearce’s manager Adam Hinshelwood says it is all about “getting him confident” - sounds to us like he’s not had to do too much of that in the past five months!
