The Bulls’ 1-1 draw at Guiseley on Tuesday night proved his team can dig in when needed, the head coach said.
Hereford remain in trouble down the bottom of the National League North but Richards explained why he thinks his players are showing enough to suggest they can win the battle to stay up.
“I thought we were excellent at times and we could have won it,” he said post match.
“I was really pleased with the performance - to go a goal down was frustrating but I thought we did well after that.
“Going away from home in this league is so so tough so to pick up a point like we did is really encouraging.
“We were good value for the point. We need to start getting points on the board and the players know that,” Richards added.
“Sometimes we have to get a bit ugly and I think the performance levels are getting back to where they have been before a bit the recent dip.
“We should be picking up more points than what we are doing but the lads should be positive - the form is not actually too bad. I don’t think things are as bad as maybe they seem.”
