Never had the Shots beaten their Hampshire rivals but on Saturday they put on perhaps their best display of the season so far.
They got a monkey off their back with an impressive 2-1 win at the Silverlake against a side who had won their last four.
Waddock’s men even came from behind to do it but and after being in the bottom four three weeks ago, they are now nine points above it.
“From the first second to the final second they were outstanding,” Waddock told BBC Surrey.
“It was nice to finally put it to bed and beat Eastleigh. I was aware of the fact we had never won against them so that makes it even more special.
“To go a goal behind in a game like this and then to turn it around like we did was fantastic.
“We actually could have gone away with it before half time as we missed a number of great chances but it wasn’t to be,” he added.
“They kept plugging away, playing the way we want to play and I’m absolutely delighted.
“We were playing a team in great form and who are playing for their new manager who hopes to get the job but we
